Ben was born in Cannes, France in 1982. He first picked up a racquet at the age of 10, and started playing intensively at the age of 12. By 15, Ben had moved to the Team Daniel Contet Tennis Academy, where he lived full-time for two years. After half a year at the Corretja Alex Tennis Academy in Barcelona, Spain, he received a full scholarship to Illinois State University where he played #1 singles and #1 doubles. With his partner, Djordje Uskokovic, they became one of the best doubles teams in the country. Upon graduation from ISU, he earned an Economics and Business Administration degree.
Post-college, Ben has also been the hitting partner of Amelie Mauresmo (#1 in the world) and Alysee Carnet (currently #60). He has coached at the Team Daniel Contet Tennis Academy, Illinois State Summer Camps, and Lake Shore Country Club.
