6/8/2009 - HTA Takes Four More
HTA Members continued their hot streak the first weekend of June as four juniors started the month with titles. The Libertyville Hard Court Challenger was dominated by HTA players with Brandon Wozniczka winning the B14s, Drew Campbell taking the B16s, and Conrad Harron capturing the B18s. Chase Garber took the fourth title, going to the Wheaton Sports Center and coming home with a B12s title. This marks the fourth straight week that HTA players have captured multiple titles.
Playing up two age divisions Harron entered the event unseeded and took out the #2 seed Justin Olexa 6-1, 6-3 in the first round. In the semifinals Harron won 6-1, 6-0, before proceeding to drop David Zak 6-3, 6-3 in the finals. The title is Harron’s third in three weeks and his first Boys’ 18s title of the year. On route to his three titles Harron is 18-0 in sets and has won his last nine matches.
Campbell, who just completed high school tennis, won each of his four matches in straight sets, while only dropping nine games. Drew played his best in big matches, crushing #2 seed Brian Kim 6-0, 6-0 and #1 seed Alex Sweet 6-1, 6-1. This season Campbell is 16-0 in Boys 16s Challenger matches with four titles. He has yet to drop a set in a level 6 tournament this season.
