11/12/-09 - Six from HTA Compete at IHSA Championships
The Herrmann Tennis Academy was represented by six players at the Illinois High School Association Girls’ State Tennis Championships held October 22-24. This season the event was held at a wide array of locations as rain forced the action indoors on the first two days of the tournament.
New Trier freshman Emily Barretta posted the top results of HTA competitors as she teamed with senior Taylor Hampshire to win their first four matches to advance into the quarterfinals. In the semifinals they fell 6-3, 7-6(3) to finalists Tracy Kuhle and Amy Kuhle from St. Teresa. Hampshire and Barretta entered the tournament seeded 9-16 after capturing the Skokie Sectional Championship.
Below is an individual recap for each HTA player:

“With the amount of effort our girls put in this summer, it should come as no surprise that they posted such excellent results at state,” said Ken Herrmann. “Even more exciting is that almost all of these girls are underclassmen and will have the opportunity to build on this success and make deeper runs into the tournament in 2010.”
Morgan Park Academy’s Jerricka Boone captured the singles championship and Prairie Ridge’s Allison Murphy and Carolyn Huerth were the IHSA doubles champions. Hinsdale Center won its fourth consecutive team championship, accumulating 32 points to edge by runner-up Deerfield and their 28 point total.
