02/26/09 - Prescott to Play at Pomona
Kevin PrescottHTA’s Kevin Prescott has announced that he will play tennis at Pomona College in Claremont, Cal.  Prescott is the third HTA senior to announce his intention to play college tennis.  Previously Michael Moore and Etham Frenkel signed letters of intent to compete at Notre Dame and Tulane, respectively.

“Kevin has been with the academy since he was twelve years-old and comes from a terrific family,” said HTA Owner Ken Herrmann.  “His game has developed so much in his time with us and he has a lot of potential to improve in college.  I am really excited that he gets to go to the school that he wanted.”

Pomona SagehensPomona is rated as one of the top-ten liberal arts colleges in the United States by U.S News and World Report.  In addition to its academic reputation, Pomona is one of the top NCAA Division III programs in the nation and they are currently 30th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.  Prescott will be playing for a co-op team that features students from both Pomona and Pitzer College.

“To simply gain acceptance at Pomona College displays an incredible amount of discipline and focus, qualities that pay off on the tennis court,” stated Sagehens head coach Ben Belletto.  “Kevin comes in to a great situation, surrounded by plenty of youth, experience, talent, and hunger. His junior results indicate that he’ll be able to come in and help us out, while at the same time, he’ll have the chance to work his way into a spot. Kevin impressed me tremendously throughout my communication with him and I look forward to having him as a member of our program next year and for years to come.”

Prescott is currently ranked 60th in the USTA Midwest Section; in the TennisRecruiting.net ratings he is 12th in Illinois and 36th in the Great Lakes Region.

Kevin will be the 49th Herrmann Tennis Academy alumnus to play college tennis.
