01/06/10 - Benedetto Wins First Boys’ 14s Title
HTA’s Johnathon Benedetto won the Boys’ 14s Northwestern Holiday Classic held at the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill. on December 18-20. The title is Benedetto’s first in the Boys 14s.
Benedetto took a hard fought first round match 6-1, 7-6(4) against Ross Gan. In the second round he knocked off HTA classmate and #2 seed Ben Bleier 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the finals. In some of his best tennis Benedetto topped #1 seed Ben Pensuwan 6-2, 6-4.
“Johnathon’s game has been progressing very nicely these past few months,” said HTA Head Coach Ben Ashford. “As he continues to developing physically he will be a force to be reckoned with in the 14s.
