Summer Overnight Camp at the “Zoo”

Group Pic

Our sixth year of overnight camps finished on July 19th. This year the camp saw players from across the Midwest and as far away as Shanghai and London travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan at our host facility at Western Michigan University. During the three weeks that camp took place, the juniors played six hours daily under the direction of camp Co-Directors Academy Owner, Ken Herrmann and WMU Men’s Head Coach, David Morin.

Assisting our directors at camp were WMU Assistant Mens' Coach Jose Orozco; Academy Coaches, Jackie Jenkins, Scott Newmark, and Jim Kultgen; and camp alum, Nicole Janek. "My favorite part of camp was getting to know the players on an individual basis. I know I will follow their progress in the future," said HTA Coach Kultgen.

Outside of the tennis and fitness program, the campers participated in evening activities which included go-carting, bowling, dodgeball, and ping pong tournaments.

“I have so much fun being involved with the overnight camp. It is a great opportunity for serious junior tennis players to experience high qualitiy tennis in a camp environment” says Herrmann. “Western Michigan has one of the premier tennis facilities in the nation.” Western Michigan University is the site of the Boy’s 16 and 18 USTA National Junior Championships.

Herrmann Tennis Academy will be offering two weeks of camp in July, 2010. Stay for one week or two!
